Telemecanique Sensors, now part of Yageo Group following its acquisition from Schneider Electric, is implementing an important update to its product identification and packaging standards. This initiative aims to strengthen alignment with the company’s new global structure and enhance the customer experience.
A Global Update to GTIN Coding
As part of this transition, all existing GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) codes across the Telemecanique Sensors commercial product range will be replaced with newly assigned GTINs. This update ensures consistency and harmonization across the global portfolio of the Yageo Group. The change will directly affect the barcodes displayed on product packaging.
Introducing a More Digital Labeling System
To support a more efficient and modern documentation process, packaging labels will now include a QR code. Scanning this QR code will provide customers with immediate access to digital product documentation such as instructions, declarations, and certificates.
Products within the Safety and RFID range will remain an exception and will continue to be delivered with printed documentation.
What Customers Need to Do
We kindly request that all customers update their internal systems and databases with the new GTIN codes corresponding to each product reference. A detailed mapping file containing the old-to-new GTIN relationships is available as part of this communication. Download
To simplify system transitions, both the old and new GTIN codes will be accepted in EDI transactions for a dedicated transition period.
Transition Period
Given that some distribution centers still carry products labeled with former GTINs, both the old and new codes will coexist in the market for at least one year. During this period, customers may receive items labeled with either version.
Implementation Timeline
A list of product references already updated with their new GTINs is available for consultation. A second list covering future implementations will follow in the coming weeks.
Updated Label Examples
The new labels not only incorporate new GTINs but also feature updated CIP information (extracted digits from the GTIN code) and, for unit packaging, a new QR code.
